URBANtells, '06

URBANtells is a participatory, interactive, mobile sound installation that has a user explore a neighborhood on foot, essentially "data-diving" with a handheld device we call a digi-diviner, while listening and contributing to an evolving and collective database of the layers of embedded histories and experience that define the urban experience. The work will be implemented in two forms during '06, and has been awarded an ISEA Commission and will be installed in San Jose, CA., in August '06. The work has also been commissioned by the City of Baltimore's North Station Development Committee, and will be installed in Baltimore during Fall '06/Winter '07. For a description of each version of the piece, please click on either of the two images above.
